What another wonderful Wednesday at the Project! A morning full of friendship, laughter, entertainment, kindness and community spirit. Just what Wednesdays are all about!
We were delighted to welcome Community Connect West Northamptonshire, who were kept busy throughout the morning offering advice, answering questions and supporting our attendees. Thank you for joining us and providing such a valuable service.
A little laughter goes a long way! We were treated to a brilliant sketch organised by the wonderful Keith Fraser and the Kim Grantham Rolling Players! Thank you to everyone involved for bringing so many smiles, giggles and a little sunshine into our morning. You certainly brightened our day!
We were also absolutely delighted to welcome Fiona Baker, Chairman of West Northamptonshire Council, an old friend and fantastic supporter of our Project. Congratulations on your recent appointment, Fiona! It was lovely to see you again and we look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
At 11am it was Eyes Down for Rod’s Bingo! Plenty of excitement, anticipation and laughter as the numbers were called. Always a firm favourite with our attendees!
Our lovely Mary has been busy painting throughout the year and today brought along her beautiful artwork to sell, raising funds for Katharine House Hospice and Macmillan Nurses. Both causes hold a very special place in Mary’s heart, and we are so proud of her kindness and generosity. Mary, you are not only incredibly talented but have the biggest, kindest heart. Thank you for everything you do.
We were also joined by Amy from LPAs and Wills, who was kept very busy answering questions about Lasting Powers of Attorney, wills and estate planning. Time really does fly! 1980 might only seem like ten years ago when you last wrote your will, but perhaps it’s time to dig it out and check everything is still relevant! Thank you, Amy, for sharing your knowledge and offering such helpful advice.
And then it was Fish & Chip Shop Wednesday!
What a lovely treat for everyone! Something as simple as enjoying fish and chips, bread and butter together can mean so much. Many of our attendees aren’t always able to pop to the local chip shop or get their meal home while it’s still hot.
Today we brought the chip shop experience to them! Good food, lovely company, plenty of conversation and happy faces all around. Sometimes it’s these simple pleasures that make the biggest difference.
Next Wednesday we’re back from 10am!
We’ll be welcoming Dawnie’s Emporium, with a lovely selection of bric-a-brac and good-quality clothing for everyone to browse and enjoy. A little shopping without having to venture into town!
And finally, a little reminder from us all at the Project…
As the days get shorter and colder, please remember to check in on friends, family and neighbours. Pick up the phone, have a chat, share a memory or enjoy a good old reminisce. A simple phone call or friendly conversation can brighten someone’s entire day.
Nobody should feel forgotten or alone.
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers, visitors, entertainers and everyone who makes our Wednesdays so special.
The Saints Community Project is so much more than a coffee morning. It’s friendship, companionship, laughter, support and a place where everyone belongs.
Stay warm, keep smiling and look after one another. We can’t wait to see you all next Wednesday!
Together we’re helping to combat isolation and loneliness in our community.
Community. Friendship. Togetherness.
