Memories - Lets get physical
Let's Get Physical
The School of Life is a lottery funded project in our area. Its purpose is to work with individuals, groups and organisations across South Northamptonshire with the aim of promoting activities that encourage social inclusion and reduce isolation.
Karen Bicknell our local co Ordinator visited a couple of months ago and fell in love with our project and our members and really wanted to be involved in some of our activities. We fit the criteria perfectly as our attendees on a weekly basis range from the ages of 3 to 93. We very much have the same objectives.
After much discussion the general opinion was that everyone would like to learn more about different exercises that could be done for different abilities. Especially after operations and for general well being and fitness.
With the financial assistance of School for Life we were able to employ a couple of qualified instructors . Over the coming weeks they were able to come discuss with people what areas would help them to improve mobility in their daily lives.
The sessions finished with a 30 minute routine to demonstrate a whole host of techniques and different exercise routines to display the wide variety on offer.
There really was something for everyone. The instructors were able to offer a whole range of techniques to ensure as we get older we are able to keep moving.
It gave options for those unstable on their feet to those that were up for giving John Travolta a run for his money. Exercises each day that could be done from the comfort of your arm chair to ideas for little things you could do whilst walking in the fresh air.
We look forward to having more sessions over the coming months and great that suggestions have been put in place to arrange a separate class for the saints community project !
